Course on Standard Steel Structure Projects

OBJECTIVES

The course is designed to provide participants with the practical solution of a number of standard projects in this field, which can serve as a guide for developing other similar projects.

The course has an eminently practical approach: after a brief presentation of the fundamentals of steel structure design according to the recommendations of the Spanish Technical Building Code (CTE), and of how to use the program, the calculations and drawings of the projects included in the course are analysed.

The course is aimed at architects and engineers of any speciality who work on engineering projects or who plan to do so in the near future, and at other professionals with a basic knowledge of steel structure design.

Thanks to the collaboration of companies in the sector, participants will receive the program Metalpla XE6 * free of charge; its features can be consulted on this website.

Course on timber structures according to the Spanish Technical Building

Code with the Estrumad XE program

OBJECTIVES

The aim of the course is to acquire sufficient knowledge to begin designing timber structures according to the recommendations of the revised Spanish Technical Building Code and EC-5. The course has an eminently practical approach, so the theoretical presentation will be accompanied by practical application with the help of a computer. The timber structure design program ESTRUMAD XE6 * will be used; it is part of the documentation given free of charge to students and its features can be consulted on this website.

PROGRAMME

The course covers the following contents:

a) Theory

  4. Basis of design: serviceability limit states.
  5. Failure of cross-sections by plastification
